Nigeria's Falcons Fly in Germany as the only African team in the FIFA Women's World Cup 2011

As one of the two African teams participating in the FIFA Women's World Cup 2011, the Falcons of Nigeria have a great deal of pressure on them. However the team has carried a spirit of ease with a very positive attitude despite their relatively poor records in the World Cup so far. They are one of the few teams which has made it to all 7 world cups.
Uche Eucaria Ngozi, a former attacker in the team and assistant trainer for the last ten years, has been entrusted with the tough job of bringing home better results this time. She says her team is ready and other external drawbacks like acclimatisation have been addressed to keep distractions at their minimum.
Keen focus has been on Eyere Orji (right Pic). The 18yrs midfielder is one of the teams best game makers with great talents. 35-years-old  Perpetua Nkwocha, one of the oldest players in the team, has pulled the public eye as well. They both resound the fearlessness of the team as well as the good mood and unity amongst its players as they kick off today.

The Falcons are in the same group with Canada, Germany and France and will take on their first match today in Sinsheim against France.

Nigeria made history a few months back in Germany when their U-20 Female Football  team finished second place in the U-20 World Cup 2010. Hopefully they keep this spirit.
