Boris Frederic Cecil Tay-Natey Ofuatey-Kodjoe was born on the 8th of March 1973 in Vienna, Austria to a German mum (a psychologist) and a Ghanian father ( a physician).
His parents divorced when he was six years old and he grew up near Freiburg.
Has a brother named Patrick and two sisters, Nadja and Lara.

Prior to launching his
acting career, he modeled at the Ford Modeling agency, where he was
involved in such campaigns as Ralph Lauren, Perry Ellis, Yves Saint
Laurent and The Gap.
He recently started
up the clothing company ALFA with his brother Patrick.
He married Nicole Ari Parker on May 21, 2005 in Gundelfingen, Germany. They have two children, Sophie Tei-Naaki Lee Kodjoe and Nicolas Neruda
Kodjoe.
In 2008 they founded the SOPHIE'S VOICE FOUNDATION,
a charitable organization supporting family outreach programs,
prenatal education and surgical studies for children and adults with
Spina bifida.
The Sophie's voice foundation was founded in honor of their daughter Sophie who was diagnosed with Spina Bifida at birth.
