Merry Christmas mit Jacques-Greg Belobo, Bassbariton aus Kamerun in Semperoper Dresden

Jacques-Greg Belobo was born in Cameroon, where he started his vocal studies in the capital city Yaoundé. He won first Prize in the Concours National de Chant Classique in 1996, the Concours Aguimucla in Yaoundé in 1997 and the Concours International Diapason in Abidjan, Ivory Coast. He was thus granted scholarship to continue his studies at the Conservatoire National de Nice, where he won the Gold Medal in 1998 as well as the Operetta Competition in Rennes and the First Prize of the Concours National de Chant Lyrique in Béziers, Concours National de Chant Lyrique in Ales.

Mr. Belobo got admitted at the Conservatoire of Music and Dance of Paris in 1998,he graduated in 2001. This chronic winner went on to win the Second Prize of the International Competition of Geneva in 2000 and 5 Prizes at the International Belvedere Competition in Vienna in July 2002, prizes that include engagements with the Semperoper Dresden, with the Strasbourg Opera, the Kammeroper Vienna and a recital at the Philharmonic hall in Cologne.

Since then, he is regularly engaged and has done concerts with conductors like Zubin Metha, James Levine, Myung-Whun Chung Ivor Bolton, Fabio Luisi, Michel Piquemal, Paul Goodwin, Roland Hayrabedian, Johannes Wildner to name a few.

He sings several roles and parts such as Il Grande Sacerdote (Nabucco), Kaspar and Eremit (Der Freischutz), Leporello (Don Giovanni), Vicar Gedge (Albert Herring), Polyphemus (Acis et Galatea), The Verdi Requiem, Dvorak’s Stabat Mater, Mozart’s Coronation Mass, Rossini’s La Petite Messe Solennelle, Brahms’ Ein Deutsches Requiem, Bach Cantatas or Fauré’s Requiem.

Monsieur Belobo is now a member of the "Junges Ensemble der Bayerischen Staatsoper München" and regularly performs at the opera of Gelsenkirchen.

In 2003 he was chosen from singers around the world to compete in the BBC Cardiff Singer of the World Competition, in Wales.

Jacques-Greg is very connected to his Cameroonian roots despite a very successful career abroad. He still performs in Cameroon, as shown in the video below, and is very engaged in Development Projects for Cameroon.

Shary Reeves - A Multitalent with a heart for kids

Shary Reeves ist ein Multitalent mit einem großen Herz für Kinder.

Die gebürtige Kölnerin ist Tochter eines kenianischen Philosophie-Professors und einer Krankenschwester aus Tansania.Sie ist eins von vier Kindern und verbrachte ihre Kindheit in New York und in Köln. Ihre viele Talenten und Facetten zeichnen sie aus. Als Sportler spielte sie Profifußball beim SC 07 Bad Neuenahr. Zudem ist sie eine leidenschaftliche Marathonläuferin, insbesondere bei Benefiz-Marathon.

Mit einer Hauptrolle in der Daily Soap „Marienhof“ (2001 – 2003), sowie Nebenrollen bei „Der Fahnder“, „SK Babies“, oder „Mein Leben und ich“ (1998 - 2004) könnte sie ihre schauspielerische Talenten beweisen.

Als Sängerin feierte Shary Reeves zusammen mit ihren Geschwistern als „4 Reeves“ Erfolge, die in den frühen 1990er Jahren zu den Wegbereitern für deutsche Hip-Hop und Soul zählten.

Seit 1996 steht sie bei WDR vor der Kamera, wo sie Kinder und Erwachsenen zunächst mit der Sendung " Maus Club" und aktuell " Wissen macht Ah!" begeistert. Sie und Ralph Caspers ( Co-Moderator) haben Klugscheißen salonfähig gemacht.

Mit ihrem Engagement als Botschafterin der Deutschen Krebshilfe und ihrer Unterstützung u.a von Kindernothilfe, SOS Kinderdorfs Berlin, Gemeinsam für Afrika, und der Deutschen Lepra- und Tuberkulosehilfe setzt sich die energetische Frau für andere Menschen ein. Ebenfalls ist sie seit November 2011 eine der deutschen Botschafterinnen der UN-Dekade Biologische Vielfalt^. Die Stiftung Deutsche KinderKrebshilfe hat ihr 2013 den Ehrentitel "Botschafterin" verliehen.

Obwohl Shary seit 2004 keinen Profifußball mehr spielt, unterstützt sie diesen Sport wo sie nur kann, zum Beipspiel ist sie Mitglied der „Top 11 für 2011“ als prominente Botschafterin für die Frauen-Fußball-Weltmeisterschaft 2011 in Deutschland.

Jérôme Boateng: (21yrs) Defender in the german national football team

It could be said that football runs in the veins of Jérôme's family. He was born in Berlin on September 3rd to a Ghanian father and a German mother. Jerome and his brothers, who are footballers as well, were born into football. His uncle played in the Ghanian national team.

His volatile thus incalculable style of play makes him a tough defender.


His resumé includes Hertha BSC and currently Hamburger SV at the national level. He also played in German U-19 and U-21 German national football teams. He was recruited this year into the German national team.

Die in Kamerun geborene promovierte Literaturwissenschaftlerin lebt seit 1992 in Freiburg, ist verheiratet und Mutter von drei Kindern. Sie wurde bei der Kommunalwahl im Juni mit 75% der Wahlstimmen als Mitgleid der CDU-Fraktion in den Freiburger Gemeinderat gewält. Kurz davor wurde sie am CDU-Landesparteitag in Friedrichshafen neu als Beisitzerin in den CDU-Landesvorstand gewählt. Sie ist Sprecherin für Schule und Weiterbildung sowie für Migration der CDU-Fraktion Freiburg.

My encounter with Nneka was somewhat unusual. It wasn't unusual to be the only african in the audience at her concert in Magdeburg. I had found my way to the front row ( I always try to ) and I could feel her energy and words deep down in me. When I went to sign the CD I had bought, she said ' I was happy to see you on the first row because I believe you can connect to my message'. That was the first time an artist personally expressed the wish to connect and send out a message to me. We then exchanged contacts...and I have been a number one fan since then.....

If you are uncomfortable with the truth then you can't be at ease with Nneka whose first two albums ' Victim of truth' and ' No longer at ease' let their titles speak for themselves.

Nneka was born (1981) and raised in Nigeria. She later moved to Germany where her career in Music kicked off. Put in her words..'music found me and not I music', it is no wonder that major German newspapers labelled this beautiful talent very timely the Lauryn Hill of Germany.

Ich fand noch einen Grund mein Blog weiterzuschreiben als Ich letzte Woche einen Artikel bei Welt-online laß. http://www.welt.de/die-welt/wirtschaft/article4864535/Einwandererkinder-haben-in-Deutschland-schlechte-Jobchancen.html.
Es geht um eine Studie der Organisation für wirtschaftliche Zusammenarbeit und Entwicklung (OECD), in der Mann die Chancen von Migrannten auf der Arbeitsmarkt gegenüber
Nicht -Migrannten vergliechen hat. Ich werde hier Zitate aus dem Artikel wiedergeben.....

"Nachkommen von Einwanderern haben in Deutschland deutlich schlechtere Chancen auf dem Arbeitsmarkt als junge Leute ohne ausländische Wurzeln......"

"Die Unterschiede beim Joberfolg gibt es danach auch, wenn die Migranten in der "zweiten Generation" das gleiche Bildungsniveau haben wie ihre deutschen Altersgenossen....."

"Im niedrigqualifizierten Arbeitsmarkt seien die Nachkommen von Einwanderern in Deutschland gut integriert, nicht aber bei den Jobs für Akademiker oder Facharbeiter - auch wenn sie die nötigen Voraussetzungen mitbrächten...."

Es ist traurig dass Leute trotz Qualifikation aufgrund von Klischeen keine Chancen auf dem Arbeitsmarkt bekommen . In wie weit die Presse zu dieser Meinung trägt ist heute nicht mehr umstritten.
Es gibt immer noch starken Bedarf an Aufklärung um mit den Klischeen brechen zu können.

She and others founded the association ' Afro Horizont e.V' in Düsseldorf which focuses on improving the quality of life of Africans living in Düsseldorf through Education. Sara Nuru: Germany's Next Top Model

Sara Nuru, winner of the fourth cycle of Germany's next top model was born in Upper Bavaria as the third of four kids to ethiopian parents. The 19-years-old faultless beauty found herself as a competitor in the German version of Top Model through a pleasant surprise from her boyfriend. Instead of backing off after realising she had been tricked by her boyfriend, she dicided to face the bull by its horns. She fought her way through, displaying great discipline and courage. In the end 4,6 million Germans tuned in to watch as Sara was declared winner by Heidi Klum, super model and host of the show.

Sara won several advertising campaigns with the German fashion brand(C&A), the cosmetic brand Maybelline Jade, the fast-food chain McDonalds, the mobile phone company Sony Ericson, a car and a chance to appear on the cover of German Cosmopolitan.
Sara plans taking her university-entrance diploma (A-Levels) and hopes to study Fashion, Design and Communication.

Dr. Pierrette Herzberger-Fofana - Kommunalpolitikerin, Lehrbeauftragte(Uni Erlangen), Preisträgerin des Helene Weber-Preis 2009

Dr. Pierrette Herzberger-Fofana stammt aus dem Senegal. Schon in ihrer Heimat leistete sie hevorangende wissentschaftliche Arbeit mit ihrer Forschung auf dem Gebiet der Frauenliteratur aus den frankophonen Ländern Subharara-Afrikas. Sie bekam 2003 als erster Frau in der Geschichte Senegals den Preis für Forschung und Wissenschaft. Bereits 1998 erhielt Dr. Herzberger-Fofana die Auszeichnung "Chevalier de l' Ordre National du Mérite du Sénégal", das Verdienstkreuz der Republik Senegal

Sie promovierte in Philosophie an der Universität Erlangen-Nurnberg , wo sie seit 1980 als Lehrbeauftragte arbeitet. Sie hat ebenfalls an den Universitäten Trier, Bayreuth, der Fachhochschule München und Nürnberg gelehrt. Die Spezialistin in der afrikanischen Literatur hat zu dem Thema zahlreiche Artikel in deutsch und französisch veröffentlicht.

Sie wurde 2008 erneut als Stadtsrätin auf der Liste der Grünen in Erlangen gewählt. Sie ist eine der wenigen Leute afrikanischer Herkunft in einem politischen Amt.

Frau Dr. Herzberger-Fofana ist Mitglied des Exekutivkomitees der AFARD, eine Vereinigung der afrikanischen Frauen für Forschung und Entwicklung und deren Vertreterin in Europa. Hierbei, ist sie unter anderen Ehrenmitglied der Kommision für die Einrichtung eines Denkmals für die afrikanischen Opfer von Sklavenhandel, Kolonialismus und Nazismus.

Diese Frau ist einfach nicht zu bremsen. Aus 170 Nominierten war sie eine der 15 Preisträgerinnen des Helene-Weber-Preis 2009 in Deutschland.

Zu der nächsten Generation: Es lohnt sich doch politisch zu engagieren; selbst du kann etwas bewegen!!!!

Veye Tatah: Painting a different image of Africa

Veye Tatah was born in Cameroon, studied computer sciences in Dortmund, works as a Consultant in Computer Sciences and is the founder and producer of the popular magazine: Africa Positive http://www.africa-positive.de since 1998. Confronted with the negative press image of Africa, Veye Tatah decided to take matters into her hands and founded the success magazine Africa positive which has done a great job in painting a more realistic picture of the motherland. Africa Positive is released quarterly and can be bought at almost every international press (hauptbahnhof) in Germany. She has given a voice to many Africans and enlightenment to many through her magazine. Ride on sister!!!
